WHITE ROW FARM SHOP, BECKINGTON
White Row Farm Shop is located just off the A36 near Beckington in Somerset. Some of the produce for the shop is grown in the fields which surround the shop and children will be delighted with the pig sty and piglets visible from the visitor car park.
White Row Farm Shop is a Somerset local favourite and has expanded dramatically since it started life in farm buildings over 17 years ago. As well as the award-winning farm shop, there is a café and restaurant and a particularly popular fish & chip show where you can eat in or take away, if you live in surrounding villages such as Beckington, Rode and Norton St Philip. There is also an excellent flower & gift shop which is ideal for birthdays and special occasions.
On the Taste Traders visit to White Row we were greeted by a particularly impressive display of fresh apples located just before the entrance to the farm shop. So we were already feeling hungry before we started shopping!
Inside the shop is foodie heaven with a superb selection of produce from Somerset, the West Country and a little further afield. Every product has its “food miles” shown so you can decide just how local you want your shopping to be.
We were particularly impressed with the helpful lady on the Cheese counter who let us sample some of the local delicacies before we settled on some “Wyfe of Bath” (a semi hard cheese) and the particularly delicious Bath Blue. They also stock Cheddar Gorge cheese, sheep’s milk cheese, organic cheese, goats cheese, quince jelly, Snowdonia cheese and Wookey Hole Cave Aged Cheddar.
In the Deli food hall is a superb selection including the Wiltshire Chilli Range (White Row might be in Somerset but the Wiltshire border is only a handful of miles away). Again with their food miles labelling we could see exactly how far.
White Row is well known locally for its superb selection of local fresh fruit and vegetables. Indeed when White Row Farm Shop first started out, their intention was to grow as much of what they sold as possible and to support other farmers in the local area. They very much see their role as supporting the local community.
In the chilled area White Row stock their own take away salads, Pies, Pasties, Scotch eggs, quiches and beef pies.
For customers who need “Free From” food they cater for veggie, gluten-free, dairy free, vegan, nut free & more!
Sandwiches & baguettes are made to order with local Hobbs House Bakery breads.
For dessert, White Row stock a wide range including coconut bites, superfood health bars, raspberry tarts, cheesecakes and gluten free sponges.
Butchers & Fishmongers
There is an outstanding Jon Thorner’s Butchers with a huge selection, including mouth-watering White Row sausages plus sliced White Row ham, chorizos and home-made terrines.
The fresh fish counter has a wide and often changing selection which is reflected in the offering at their Fish & Chip shop next door.
